DIRECTOR
PLANNING SERVICES
The Boone County Planning Commission is interested in filling the position of Director, Planning Services. This position serves as the chief planner to the Board and Division staff. Primary work duties involve land use, infrastructure and recreational planning, and economic development. Other work duties include conducting research, supervising staff, preparing various plans and coordinating planning work with legislative units and outside agencies.
Requirements include a minimum of 10 years of work experience in land use planning, along with a Bachelor’s degree in community planning or related field. Work experience with transportation and utility planning is preferred. Experience working in a growth community and promoting economic development is desired. Experience with using GIS technology is required, along with communication with public officials, Board members, interest groups and citizens. In addition, the position requires excellent organizational, written and supervisory skills and a team approach to effectively accomplish Division goals. AICP certification is required.
