How can a Land Bank help your community?
Public hearing to discuss Hamilton County Land Reutilization Corporation
You are invited by the Board of County Commissioners to attend a public hearing to discuss Hamilton County's new land reutilization corporation.

Thursday, June 9, 2011
4:00 pm
Springfield Township Civic Center
9150 Winton Road
As you are certainly aware, Hamilton County has been hard-hit by the recent economic downturn and the foreclosure crisis. During 2010 alone, Hamilton County saw 6,556 foreclosure filings. You have undoubtedly witnessed the consequences of blighted and vacant properties on your community and in surrounding neighborhoods.
In order to allow counties to better manage the problems of blighted, non-productive, or abandoned properties, the Ohio General Assembly passed HB 313 last year. This legislation clears the way for Ohio counties to establish and fund Land Reutilization corporations, or Land Banks. These land banks provide counties with the tools and resources for communities to more efficiently return blighted properties to productive use or to remove them from the market altogether. Land banks provide the means to strengthen our communities, improve the quality-of-life in affected neighborhoods, advance economic development, improve property values, and stop crime.
